John's Collectibles Corner

John shares a report from Nuremberg Toy Fair

Hi Janie,
Well, I've been here for almost 4 hours now and haven't even begun to see everything. It's really quite overwhelming being here in the world's biggest toybox! Of course the Ty booth was my first stop. I spoke with one of the reps, who were suspicious as always. I wonder if they remember me from the Frankfurt show a few years back. LOL. Anyway, there are no new introductions or German exclusives. They did have the February Beanies on display. There was only one Attic sitting there, and the lady I was speaking to had no idea if they're being discontinued. I have to admit that the Ty booth is the most colorful one I've seen so far. They put a lot of work into their presentation.

I'm only getting a few pictures. A lot of the companies won't allow photos to be taken. I can only assume it's because they're debuting new merchandise here at the show and want to make sure nothing is leaked. Heck, I had to get special permission to go into the Mattel section.
Lego on the other hand were very receptive. They had no problem with me taking pictures. They had full-sized figures made out of Legos that are amazing!
Of course there are people from all over the world here. There are companies from Israel, Chile, Hong Kong, and I think almost every other country in the world.

I've seen two companies so far named John and John Toys. No relatives though. The best one I've seen so far was called PMS International. LOL. They had plush toys. They all looked like they were mad though. LOL.
Anyway, I think it's about time to leave for the evening. It's starting to snow, so I want to get back before it gets bad. I couldn't find a hotel in this area since they're booked solid, so luckily I was able to get a room on a small Army base about 30 minutes from here.

I'll be coming back tomorrow and will send you an updated report.
Have a great day!

John
