The Beanies Are Coming! The Beanies Are Coming!

DURHAM (WRAL) -- Ever meet a beanieologist? No, it's not someone who's well-versed in pinto, kidney or Great Northerns. It's someone who knows her popular stuffed animals when she sees them.
Durham is being invaded by Beanie Babies today. They are the small stuffed toys that have taken kids by storm for the past couple years.
The 1998 Beanie Symposium Toy Show and Sale is being staged at the Durham Marriott at the Civic Center.
Beanieologist and author Janie Daniels is on hand to sign autographs and talk with collectors.
There will also be raffles and giveaways for hard to find Beanies.
The event will run today from 10 until 3. Admission is $5, and children under 8 are admitted free with a paid adult.
