The generosity of Ty

The company that brings community and collectors together.

Ty has recently introduced new product lines to include collectors of all ages!
Beanies will always attract children but for some odd reason the adults have decided they want in the action as well.
The new Ty Babies will surely be a big hit with newborns and toddlers.
Although Ty's Beanie Buddies continue to be popular, many would question the release of 24 new styles at one time. I say, "let the shopping begin".
The Beanie Kids, although well hidden are what I refer to as the sleepers.
In my opinion collectors' decisions may have been influenced by the amount of negative press given to this not so popular line.
I personally feel that once the line has been officially introduced, the kids will become very popular and demand will explode exponentially.
Think about it, Ty Babies for infants and toddlers, Ty Beanies for kids and adults collectors, Beanie Kids for girls, Ty Buddies for boys and with a little luck Ty may even design a special line just to attract boys even more. Maybe bugs or prehistoric animals would do the trick. Whatever you fancy, Ty has covered it all!

Unfortunately it would appear that no matter what this company does, there are a few who simply can not recognize them for their accomplishments.

This company's charity record goes further than any of us may realize.
Ty does not publish totals but they do contribute millions of pieces, which would total millions of dollars each year.
Most of their support is geared towards children's charities and in most cases are never publicized.
They have made substantial charitable contributions to some of the following organizations.
Hospitals, Shelters, Police and Fire Departments, Ronald McDonald House, Walter Payton Foundation, Nursing Homes, Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, Princess Diana Foundation and more!

May 1998
Ty presented the Princess Diana Foundation with a check for $2,004,850.00. Ty showed the world they indeed honored Princess Diana and her memory with this generous check, which represented Ty's profits from the first quarter sales of the Princess Beanie Baby.

PRESS RELEASE
Ty Inc.'s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Michael W. Kanzler, will present a check for $1,802,250.27 to the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund in London on October 26, 1999. Since 1998, Ty Inc. has donated over $20,890,858.51 to the Fund. All of Ty Inc.'s profits from the original purchase of the Princess Beanie Baby® and Princes Beanie Buddy® are donated to the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fund to carry on the work of the late Princess Diana.
The popular Princess Beanie Baby® was launched on October 29, 1997 and retired on April 13, 1999, however Beanie collectors are still excited when they come across one. Ty Inc. launched the larger plush toy Princess Beanie Buddy® in April of 1999. Charities with which Diana was formally associated have received grants to help and support those organizations. Mr. Kanzler will travel to London in late October to visit the Fund and the Osteopathic Centre for Children's Hospital, one of late Princess' charities and see
first hand some of the benefits of the company's contributions.

Ty Announcement
I have been reading your posts both here and at other sites. I have heard your challenge to "put my money where my mouth is" by matching any funds raised from the "Global Poll". I think that is a great idea! I will, therefore, present the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation with an amount that is TRIPLE the amount raised by your voting! May the New Millennium bring each and every one of you health and happiness!
Ty Warner

Special Note To Ty from, The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation
"We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ty Warner for his extraordinary generosity and commitment to children. As we enter a new century, Ty's gift will bring immeasurable hope to the many children and families around the world dealing with the ravages of HIV and AIDS. Miracles can happen." Paul Glaser, Chairman of the Board http://www.pedaids.org/

Global Beanie Baby Vote Generates $1 Million For Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation
$1 Million Gift Helps Children Around The World LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation announced today that it received $1 million from Ty Inc. from the first-ever global beanie baby vote. Ty Inc. more than doubled its pledge to triple funds raised by the vote.

Thousands of children who spent the holidays in the hospital have smiles on their faces thanks to Ty, Inc. -- makers of the wildly popular Beanie Babies -- and Children's Miracle Network (CMN). Ty distributed more than 300,000 Beanie Babies and Pillow Pals through CMN's network of 170 non-profit children's hospitals to brighten the lives of sick and injured children. The hospitals will share the toys with children in a variety of ways, through programs like Procedure Goody Box, as prizes in patient bingo games, and as patient gifts. ``In behalf of the 14 million kids served each year by our participating hospitals, we're very grateful to Ty for their generous contribution, ''said Clark Sweat, CMN's vice president of marketing. ``Ty's kind gift, valued at more than $2 million, will find even greater value in the hearts of hospitalized children throughout the year.''
Ty Inc. Donates Pillow Pals(TM) Toys to Ronald McDonald Houses(R) (PRNewswire) Ty Inc., makers of the popular stuffed toys, is donating more than 150,000 Pillow Pals(TM) plush toys to Ronald McDonald Houses(R) around the United States.

Ty should not only be credited for supporting these organizations; they also should be credited for protecting their collectors.

In April 1998 - The following Hot line number was established for reporting sellers of Beanie Baby counterfeits. This number is still operational.
Ty sets up Hot Line for counterfeits- 1-888-317-5489 if you suspect you have a Beanie counterfeit, please take the time and call this Hot Line.

This number would now allow collectors to help Ty stop the counterfeiting of their products. In turn this would ease the mind of collectors knowing that Ty was doing everything in their power to take control and protect them.

Ty makes a special announcement regarding pricing.
NEWSFLASH PRICING PHILOSOPHY UPDATE
Ty's pricing philosophy is permanently posted on our website for consumers and Ty accounts to refer to at any time. Situations we currently observed in the marketplace compel us to reiterate this position.
BEANIE BABIES® plush styles are designed for children to collect and are priced to sell around $5.00
This includes all current styles, new product introductions, as well as high demand items such as Princess, Erin, Fortune, Peace, Glory, Valentino, Curly, etc. We expect every Ty account to place every Beanie Baby style shipped on their shelves so that each customer has the opportunity to purchase every style that we produce and each style that they want.
One more time: If we ship it and it's current on the www.ty.com, it should be on the shelf for around $5.00! NO exceptions, anywhere, anytime, by any Ty direct account.

This newsflash delighted many! Retailers would now be forced to follow Ty's pricing guidelines.

TY NEWSFLASH
New Beanie Bottom Tag!
All authentic 1999 Beanie Babies will have a morphing hologram and disappearing ink on each Beanie bottom tag (tush tag)

This is another added protection for Ty's collectors. These hologram tags will hopefully deter counterfeiting.

4-27-99 The NEW Ty Talk Cyberboard opens.
It offers the following categories:
Daily Times, Bright Ideas, Grins and Gripes and Mixed Bag. Ty encourages all to let it rip! This may be their way of getting feedback first hand instead of through rumors.

Ty has openly allowed collectors to voice their opinions on their products.
The opinions have not always been in favor of Ty but their security within themselves allows collectors to speak out and for Ty to listen and learn.

I am constantly putting myself in Ty's position and find myself becoming more frustrated as the months go by.
This company's popularity has caused many to speculate and spread rumors, which in turn confuses collectors.
Collector's obsession with Ty news has caused some individuals to act in a unprofessional manner and in some cases even perform illegal acts.
In order to wade through the nonsense that surrounds this hobby I constantly remind myself of Ty's generosity and their willingness to go the extra mile for collectors.
