NEW YORK TOY FAIR

Due to the amount of pictures and stories to share, this article will be brought to you in three parts.

Part one of my New York Toy Fair Experience

My traveling companions were Sara Nelson (Beaniemom) and Helen Lerner from 'The Treasure House in Great Falls, Virginia'

This picture should help to discribe some of the fun we had!

The three of us had a marvelous time. I will share my experience with these two women as we get more into part two and three of this article.

Before I get started I must warn you, if I tend to sound a little star struck it's because I truly was!

We arrived at Penn Station in New York around 1 PM on Wednesday afternoon.
As I walked out of the station, New York took my breath away!

I guess I can be described as an old fashion woman whose middle name is homebody.
I am not a world traveler and simple things mean a lot!
New York is FAR from being simple.

I have viewed scenes of New York on television but nothing could prepare me for what I saw as I looked up at the enormous amount of tall building and billboards.
If you were to look up tourist in the dictionary, it would give a description of myself.

I was simply amazed at the way taxi cab drivers made their own lanes. Their horns were their best friends.
Our driver was heavy on the gas and even heavier on the brakes. Needless to say I closed my eyes a lot which did caused me to miss a lot of the scenery.

If I had to pick my least favorite experience in New York, it would be that you are unable to view sunrises or sunsets. The buildings prevent you from seeing and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Then again, there is nothing simple about New York. It truly is the city that never sleeps!

NOW ON TO THE SHOW!!!!

Toy Fair was incredible. After checking our luggage we quickly made our way to the Ty booth.
They were quite busy taking orders from retailers and showing off their new product line.
We made our way around the booth and inspected Beanies, Attic's, Buddies, Classic's and Kids.
Sara quickly fell into her element by playing with the toys and posing them in different ways. At one point, Ty Reps were impressed with her ability to mix, match and pose the Kids with Buddies and Classic styles.

I found the Ty reps to be especially nice and attentive. In a cute sort of way, it was obvious that they too would remain just as mysterious as Ty Warner. Many of my questions were answered with a simple, "I don't know". After a while it was amusing, at one point, one of the Ty Reps. used a Beanie Kid and shrugged its shoulders to say, I don't know!

My favorite NEW Beanies are as follows: Although I truly found the entire line to be well made and highly collectible, there were a few which stood out and were special in their own way!
Pterodactyl dinosaur - This piece is absolutely beautiful. Its wing span is incredible and the colors are vibrant.
The Ty 2000 Bear was unique with two tones of purple with tiny specks of jade or green throughout.
The Lizard was very eye catching and sure to be a favorite of boys. The eyes and spine give it a realistic appeal.
There was also a white bear covered in silver stars. I will admit that at first glance I found this bear to be a little over done, but it grow on me quickly and ended up being one of my favorites. It may be Ty's way of shining through 2000

After leaving the Ty booth we ran into Cascade Toy and Sally Winey.
Cascade and Winey have teamed up to bring year 2000 a special line designed by Sally Winey.

Sally Winey and Helen from The Treasure House in Great Falls, VA

Their booth was quite busy with retailers lined up to have their designs signed by Sally.
Her designs for Cascade were a hit!

Dave Perry, the owner of Cascade Toy was very pleased with the response they had received from the show.

The GRAND Teddy Bear (Dave) from Cascade Toy

Although I have written about both Dave and Sally I had never met them before the show.
I found Dave to be a humble Teddy Bear and Sally to be a House On Fire! The two complemented each other very well.
