Ms.Janie,
A friend told me to email you regarding the strange Red Digger
I picked up on an Ebay Auction.
What stumped us is that the tush tag reads 1995TY INC. but the
part about the pellets used says 'P.E. PELLETS' which seems strange
since my understanding are the ones used now. The other strange
thing is that the name is spelled 'Dlgger' it looks like an 'l'
instead of an 'i'. The swing tag is a third generation and pretty
much matches what I have seen in books.
If you know off hand that is a fake please let me know. Or,
where they're any misspellings ever?
Thanks,
Debbie Boggs
I have found the following wrong with your Digger.
1. Ty did not release Digger being stuffed with PE pellets - Digger
was stuffed with PVC pellets.
2. My tag is a third generation tag and shows a date of 1993 TY
INC, your tag says 1995TY INC - Your tag has no space between
the date and TY, it also has the wrong date.
3. Ty did not start displaying the TM mark by the Beanie name
on the tush tag until the 5th generation tag was released. The
TM symbol should appear at the very top of the last letter in
the Beanie name. Your tag shows the TM symbol closer to the registered
® symbol.
4. Digger is spelled Digger not Dlgger as it appears on your tag.
5. Diggers legs are not pointed as indicated on your Beanie, instead
they are
more rounded.
6. Your tush tag resembles a 6th generation tag. This is impossible
because Digger retired in May1997 and the 6th generation tag was
not introduced until December 1997.
7. My swing tag is a forth generation and hers looks like a third
generation with a 6th generation tush tag. Impossible!
8. The font and color of the letters on the tush tag are off in
color and the color of the red in the crab is also off a shade.
