Style # 4125
Date Introduced: January 1, 1997
Birthday: March 21, 1996
Poem:
Fleece would like to sing a lullaby
Please be patient, she's rather shy
When you sleep, keep her by your ear
Her song will leave you nothing to fear.
Fleece was released with a 4th and 5th generation hangtag
and a 3rd through 6th generation tushtag
Shawna from Canada shares her findings
of a very questionable Fleece
Reasons why this Fleece is a Counterfeit:
Real Fleece hangtag - Questionable Fleece hangtag
The words in "beanie original baby" are the wrong font.
They are not bolded.
Real Fleece Hangtag
Questionable Fleece Hangtag
Hangtag:
The spaced between Ty Inc., Ty Europe, and Ty Canada are wrong.
Questionable Fleece Tushtags
Tushtag:
The copyright (c) is a capital letter; I have never seen any (C)
like that on a Ty product that I can recall. There may also be
something wrong with the R symbol. From what I can see the star
and the R are slightly larger than in the authentic Fleece.
The tushtag width is also slightly larger on the counterfeit Fleece.
Real Fleece Tushtags
Backside of Fleece - the first Fleece is the real one (Smaller)
The first Fleece is the real one (Smaller)
This Fleece is way overstuffed and not filled with beans, instead
it is overstuffed with stuffing which, in the authentic Fleece,
only exists in the head area.
The overstuffing makes it so that it isn't floppy like the authentic
Fleece.
The head is wrong; the fabric is cut in an incorrect
way making it look carelessly put together. The face looks flat
and the eyes look wrong.
The head is put on the body wrong making it so that
the ears are higher from the body portion.
The tail is wrong.
The counterfeit Fleece looks bigger, but it might just
be because of the overstuffing.
The back of the eyes on the counterfeit Fleece feel
different, but this still is not a definite indication of a fake.

Closing note from Shawna
I never would have purchased this Beanie except for
the fact that it was a common style, which I thought would not
be counterfeited.
I have done extensive research on counterfeit and rare Beanies
but have not researched the more common styles.
I paid $25.00 Canadian for this Beanie, which I bought later for
$7.00 US or (10.00) Canadian from Wallos. Before this incident
I purchased around (20) commons (but impossible to find in authorized
stores these days) Beanies, which were all authentic, from secondary
sources including two other beanies from the store which I bought
Fleece from.
I suppose that at the time I bought Fleece I was too
trusting so I didn't bother to do more than a quick check. Boy
was that wrong. I am sending this Fleece to you in the hopes that
buyers of beanie babies, whether rare or common, will make sure
to check out the entire Beanie Baby before purchasing it. When
I bought my first Beanie Baby, Speedy, from an unauthorized store
I was very careful to check everything but over time I stopped
bothering until I got home. Hopefully my $25.00 mistake will help
someone out. At least the $25.00 made it so that I won't get burned
again on a more expensive product. I'd just like to mention that
the day after purchasing this fake Fleece I went by another secondary
store which had a counterfeit Radar, Ally, Bubbles and Sting.
I went inside and they had quite a few older common Beanies etc.
I walked out without even looking.
Note from Ms. Janie
I guess this Fleece came from the States and she purchased it
on the second market in Canada because it does not have the extra
tushtag for a Canadian Beanie Baby
