As usual with fakes
there are several little things wrong that add up to
their being a counterfeit.
In the case of Radar
1) Head is larger
than the real Radar
2) Felt on the feet and wings is thicker and with a different
feel than the real Radar
3) The fabric or fur on the real Radar is shinier and has a different
look
4) The eyes on the counterfeit Radar are larger than the authentic
5) Overall body size is similar but the fake is a bit overstuffed
with beans ( overstuffing is a trademark of the counterfeiters
)
6) Inconsistencies on the swing tag including lighter red color,
wrong font size and type
7) Inconsistencies on the tush tag including newer material than
that used in the correct Radar, wrong size font, wrong font type,
and tag cut too wide ( as a result of wrong font type and weight
)
I have gotten good
at recognizing when something is wrong, it usually is someting
like wow those old beanies look good ....too good. Most older
and rare Beanies show some age regardless of how carefully they
have been handled. Tush tags turn a bit yellow or cream colored
and the swing tags
are usually at best off white. Counterfeits typically look brand
new ( because they are ) and show no signs of aging of the tags.
The typical first reaction with counterfeits is that they are
just like new, which of course they are since they were recently
made ( usually in China, but not by TY ).
After doing some
further checking I have learned that it could be very possible
for the following tag to exist.
If the tag says:
Ty UK Ltd.
Fareham, Hants
