A brief note from Ms. Janie,
For those of you who may have not
visited my site in the past couple of weeks, I am now a grandma.
My granddaughter (Sarah) was born on September 13th. She is growing
in leaps and bounds and fills my heart with so much joy! Jennifer
and Bryan have moved into their new place and are trying to get
settled before she returns back to work in November. I have been
consumed with photo taking, and spending as much time with Sarah
as possible.
I will resume my newsletter on a
regular basis next week. If you have any news to share please
feel free to drop me a line at msjanie@comcast.net
In the mean time, if you wish to
view some photos of Sarah, you can do so by visiting the following

Ms. Janie,
My name is Jason from Gray, TN. I read your site daily for news
on TY. I'm not sure if anyone has shared this with you yet or
not, but I just bought the new beanies that came out for this
month. The new 2.0 cat, scaredy, has a new 2.0 hang tag!! The
hang tag is now like the regular beanies with the hanger on the
left. The tag with the special code is on a tag on the side that
is folded in half and says, play online and the back says TY.COM.
Thanks again!

Hi All once again,
Had news today from my Ty Rep that
we will be able to order the set of 3 Pepper Pigs on Monday of
next week.
I was hoping to have photos to email to you all this evening
but unfortunately they have not come through.
There will be 3 Beanie Babys and
2 key clips available and I am also told that they are to be
UK Exclusives :)
The beanies will as usual work out
at 5.99 pounds sterling each ( around US$12 ) and the key clips
will work out at 3.99 pounds sterling each ( around US$6 ) shipping
to anywhere will of course be worked out on weight alone and
usually pans out at roughly 2.00 sterling for the first beanie
and then 1.00 sterling for each beanie after that. The key clips
usually work out at around .75 - 1.00 sterling each.
If anyone would like to place an
order for any of the above please let me know so that I know
how many to order on Monday.
I can start sending out invoices as of tomorrow so that you will
know for certain that your order has been placed.
Thanking you all much in advance

Hi Ms Janie
I don't know if anyone mentioned this or not, but there was a
giveaway with an extra hang tag at Brookfield Zoo Beanie Baby
Days this year, I called the phone number below in the hope of
one laying around still...but nope, they were all handed out
to children at the Beanie Baby Days in July. Ty set up a tent
and it is now taken down they told me. I think it was last year
that they didn't do a special tag, so collectors didn't plan
on taking their grandchildren or children on this particular
day because of that. The first we heard about it was by this
auction.

A quick note from Ms. Janie,
I have received many notes from readers
wondering why I do not update daily. The answer is simple; the
collectibles market has suffered right along with the rest of
the economy. There truly is not enough news to publish a daily
newsletter, but be assured that I am still monitoring e-mail
and articles to share.
Just to catch you up on whats
been going on in my world.
David is still actively involved in racing. He has made a few
personal appearances with the #34 car and still assists drivers
at the track weekly. Due to his previous injuries, our hope is
to sell the remaining Legends car and move on to a full size
stock car with fenders. Although driving a Legends car was exciting,
I found it to be a little more than I could handle. In my opinion,
fenders are needed on racecars to prevent tire rub and rolling
the car. Dave finished 8 races and won 4 of them in his division.
He had a solid 3rd place track position, but unfortunately, his
last wreck, which resulted in rolling the car 9 times, did me
in! Dave is featured in the August edition of Speedway Illustrated
Magazine as a local hometown hero. Although he is very disappointed
in the 2008 season, he looks forward to 2009 in a new car with
a new division. I will continue to keep you posted.
Jennifers baby is due anytime
now. She has done well through her pregnancy but longs for the
day for the baby to arrive. As she puts it, "I am so over
being pregnant and want to be back in normal clothing".
I will keep you posted on her delivery and share photos of the
baby once she arrives.
As for myself, I have been keeping
myself busy with the kids schedules and the arrival of
my granddaughter. WOW, that seems so strange to say. I can recall
when Dave was just in kindergarten and Jennifer was in Middle
School when I started writing about Beanies. Now the next generation
is about to arrive and Im sure she will pickup where her
mother left off and collect her own set of Beanies.

Sly the Beanie Guy kindly shares
the following article
Beanie Baby race proceeds go to police,
fire departments
The second annual Beanie Baby 5K
race, held June 29 in Ty Warner Park, was more than a hit for
runners and walkers crossing the finish line.
Organizers of the race presented
the chiefs of the Westmont police and fire departments a check
for $5,000 Monday night, to be split evenly between the departments.
The fire department already has used the money to purchase special
bicycles for a paramedic patrol.
"We had a pilot program with
the bicycle paramedics last year, and they were such a success
we decided to go with it," said Fire Chief Frank Trout.
"Theyre a fast, safe way to transport medics in congested
areas."
The bikes, which will be used at events such as the Taste of
Westmont and the Fourth of July festival, carry advanced life
support equipment including medicines, syringes, airway equipment
and even defibrillators, Trout said.

Richard from the UK kindly shares
the following news
Hi Ms Janie,
I've some exciting news I'd like to share with you all. Ty will
be introducing a UK exclusive trio in August based around the
childrens' 'Peppa Pig' series. Their introduction was confirmed
to me today by Ty and these beanies will only available in the
UK. A limited production run is due to dock with us at the end
of this month and no more will be available until the end of
Jan 09. Peppa Pig is a very well established children's character
here in the UK, and a wealth of merchandise is already available
showing Peppa and her family. Though I can't confirm any names
at this time, there will be three characters initially released,
one of who is Peppa herself. If anyone wishes to reserve a trio,
you can do so via my site http://www.Cheshirebears.co.uk,where international customers are more than
welcome.
.
Best wishes,

note
Hi Ms. Janie
Just thought I'd update you, and your members, on what's going
on in my life at the moment. I've heard from many collectors
asking why I've been quiet or inactive and am I still collecting..
I'm far from inactive and yes, I continue to collect. I will
hold onto my beanie babies collection and sports commemoratives
for as long as I can, hopefully for life! lol
I continue to update daily my website for those who have the
update pages from me.
I have added photographs of more displays, and still have a way
to go with those yet. Collectors can view ideas on how to display
buddies and other Ty products there. I thought it would be fun
if anyone wanted to share their ideas, to add to this page. So
please can you spread the word through your newsletter and have
them contact me.
http://www.karenbrit.com/Displays.html
I should mention again, there is
no 's' in my email address, it is karenholme@aol.com and when people write to the person with an
's', she is very rude to them, but it is not me answering and
she doesn't say they have the wrong person.
I have made a major decision and
will be parting with my Beanie Buddies Collection. I've only
got as far as the A's :- the children will have graduated before
I get them all listed! lol It is definitely easier to buy than
sell on Ebay! lol Please have collectors save this link, as it
goes to my ebay store, and there are benefits if people go from
a link outside ebay. Keeps costs down. They should visit often
because I may pick up speed and get a lot listed. I'll be adding
many things, some memorabilia that I've extra of (Ty Rep European
wine glasses, etc), extra beanie babies, Japanese commemoratives,
etc. I'm taking one step at a time so it's going to be an ongoing
process.

I hope all is well with you and that
everyone is enjoying Summer!

Fake Cars toys recalled after lead
scare
A counterfeit pack of plastic toys
based on Disneys Cars film have been withdrawn from the
market by their distributor after it has been found that the
toys contain high levels of lead and chromium. The toys failed
to comply with the Toys Directive and the relevant European standard
EN71.
Cars was a huge box office smash
and has spurred a raft of licensed merchandise based on the film.
The pack of six toys containing the dangerous chemicals were
fakes, however, created in China by an unknown brand.
The recalled cars were sold in the
UK in a blister pack containing red, orange, blue and black cars
and trucks. The windscreens on the cars have been decorated to
look like eyes, similar to genuine toys from the Cars film.
Disney Consumer products created
genuine toys based on the film and said that the Cars line still
continues to be popular. It has created new Cars toys for Christmas
including a Cars garage

Smiles sent across the miles
The children in five villages in
the Philippines are receiving clean water, food and medical and
dental assistance thanks to Mission Love Seeds.
But sometimes a child just needs
to laugh and smile.
And Barbi Carroll, president of Mission
Love Seeds based in Destin, found a way to send smiles to children
in the Philippines.
Mission Love Seeds also ships small
toys, such as Matchbox cars and trucks, Barbie dolls and Beanie
Babies.
"The children love the Beanie Babies," Carroll said.
"Most sleep with them and carry them around all day. During
our visit in March, some of the little girls brought their Barbie
Dolls still in boxes they received from sponsors two or three
years ago. They were happy to just look at the doll. One of our
team members took the doll out of a package and handed it to
the child to play with. You should have seen the smile on her
face."

Boy helps shower Beanie Babies on
Iraq
James Early, 11, and his grandmother Ann Bassett joined forces
to help shower northern Iraq with Beanie Babies.
James, the son of Rick and Julie Early of Kalispell, said the
idea started with a call from his grandmother in January.
"She asked if I had any Beanie
Babies that I didnt sleep with or play with any more,"
he said.
Bassett, who lives in Enumclaw, Wash.,
explained that the husband of her doctors assistant was
deployed with the 4th Air Cavalry Squadron, 6th U.S. Cavalry
from Fort Lewis to Kirkuk, located in northern Iraq.
The Beanie Babies were needed as
friendship gifts for the helicopter pilots to drop from the air
to the children in the area.
James Early heard Sgt. 1st Class
Jimmy Martins experience.
"He flies in a helicopter and
all the kids come out of the houses screaming Beanie Babies,"
he said with a smile. "They dont have a lot in northern
Iraq."
The story goes that pilots first
dropped soccer balls, but that proved rather dangerous with some
bopping people on their heads. But the small, soft animals proved
a popular alternative.
As it turned out, James had about
200 between his collection and the collection his sister gave
to him.
After saving a few favorites as mementos,
James sent the rest to Iraq.

Soldier Bear
Beanie Babies are on a mission to
save soldiers' lives. A Midland Empire family hopes its plush
animal collection can help save troops in Iraq. A mom and daughter
duo was inspired after hearing of the group 'Moms on a Mission'
collecting supplies for U.S. troops.
The idea is for soldiers to give the stuffed animals to kids
overseas as a sign of hope and for helping them find hundreds
of land mines that could have killed them.
Thousands of dollars have been invested, and the ladies drove
many miles, to get their hand on the babies they'll be shipping.

Sue from Cherish kindly shares the
following
Hello!
It has been some time since I sent
updates about CHERISH fundraising - partly due to the slow-down
in Ty collecting and partly due to some health issues that I
have had to deal with this year.
I'm glad to say that I am now fit
and well and today took part in Cancer Research UK's 'Race for
Life' for the 7th year running...and this time I did actually
RUN some of the course!
Many thanks to those kind souls who
have already sponsored me through my Justgiving page - linked
to from my website www.cherishonline.co.uk
In an effort to increase my sponsorship
total I have listed 5 auctions of interesting Japanese promotional
Beanies this evening (ending next Sunday). To each package has
been added one or two extra items of interest and as usual all
proceeds will be donated to the charity Cancer Research UK in
the form of sponsorship for Race for Life. I have started the
auctions at fairly low prices so please bid on one or two auctions
to start the ball rolling.
You can find CHERISH auctions listed
under seller ID sue_owen on eBay or through the link from the
CHERISH website.
Many thanks to the Japanese supporters
who donated the items and to Andy Brook and the late Joyce Tunks
who made and donated the bean bags included in some auctions.

Hi Ms. Janie
A lot of people have written to thank me for the Sports Commemorative

I'll be correcting the lists soon, but didn't want anyone to
panic in the meantime if they had a White Sox card instead of
Cubs card.

I'm familiar with Wonder Pets as
I've been recording DVDs of the various cartoon shows for my
grandkids the past couple of years. Wonder Pets are 3 pets from
a school room who fly away (when nobody is there) to rescue various
animals in trouble. Each half hour show has two stories, each
entitled "Save the .....!" Tomorrow's episodes are:
"Save the Ladybug!" and "Save the Sea Turtle."
Each episode ends with the three coming back to the schoolhouse,
getting back into their cages & resuming their roles of school
pets. Tune in to Nickelodeon.

be used to purchase different food items.
Also, gardens have been added to

them and use the watering can to grow them.
And yes, this is the mysterious watering

Karen Britt has asked that I share
the following information
Sneak Preview
I am excited to be able to offer
some Sports Commemorative Beanies for sale to collectors. These
play an important role in the history of Ty. Please email me
if you would like a list and the prices I am able to sell them
for, which does not reflect their true value, as I am able to
offer most for lower.
I have added photos of my collection
to my Displays page: http://www.karenbrit.com/DisplaysSports.html
I have also listed various checklists
on my website so you can view them either by beanie, sport, team,
game date, etc http://www.karenbrit.com/SportsPromosPage.html
In preparation of listing on ebay,
I have created an About Me (ME) page, but thought I would check
if anyone has an interest in them before I do so.
http://members.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=karenbrit
Collecting the Sports Commemorative
beanies has been fun, and the hunt is still on for me until I
get the last 6 Im missing.
They will be sold on a first come,
first served basis. Some I have multiples of and some only 1
extra. All come with their authentic Commemorative Card, and
the majority with the ticket stub from the game, and some with
pins. I also have a few Official Publications from the teams.
I thought I would let those I know
about these first, before putting them on ebay.

A special thanks to Dorothy for sharing

Halloween Releases available for
ordering
Hi Janie,
I just got the Halloween releases that are available for ordering
now but will be shipping in August.
There is a 2.0 Black Cat named Scaredy,
style # 42031.
Trickster and Treator bears are Beanie Babies available as an
assortment, style # 40735. As is Vanish the Ghost, style # 40736.
Yes, Ty is going to produce some beanie babies and I for one
am very glad to hear it. Unfortunately, he has raised the price
on them so they will now be selling for the same price as the
2.0.
There is a new 5 piece set of Halloweenie beanies named: Van
Pyre (#35113), Sheetsies (#35112), EEks (#35114), Treatsies (#35116)
and Boneses (#35115).
Trickery the black cat (#32114) and Frighten the ghost (#32113)
are new Pluffies and Fogs (#70030) is a new classic Owl.
Everything else shown will be available for ordering (just in
case you didn't get them last year).
Enjoy, Dorothy

A special thanks to John for sharing
the following information and congratulations on the UK exclusive
Hi Ms Janie
A bit of news---at last!
"Ness-e" has finally been
announced on the Ty Site. Ness-e appears to be a darker shade
of green than Enigma, and comes as a Classic, Beanie and Key
Clip...and the Beanie is NOT a 2.0, but an original.
According to my information, The
Loch Ness shop will carry exclusive versions of all three in
this set, which will each have the shop logo embroidered into
the fabric, as was the case with Enigma last year.
There will also be retail versions
of all three items, which will be available to order throughout
the UK.
The Loch Ness shop will launch the
release next Monday, June 9th, but is not taking orders until
that date, and none of the items will be available elsewhere
until after that date also.
The Beanie and the key-clip versions
will be available initially, and the Classic versions round about
the end of June.

Suite Dreams Are Made of This
Ty Warner, the toy mogul and owner
of the Four Seasons Hotel New York, invested $50 million in that
hotel's top-tier suite, the Ty Warner Penthouse. The suite opened
last summer and is home to an indoor-outdoor "zen garden"
that overlooks downtown Manhattan and a bathroom sink carved
from a solid block of rock crystal. Raffles Dubai opened two
"royal suites" in February. Intricate stone inlays
line the walls of one, terracotta statues the other. Both have
dining rooms for 12 people and come with a personal butler. The
Ritz-Carlton Washington D.C., which has its eye on this winter's
presidential inauguration, completely renovated its luxury suites
at the end of 2007, adding larger TVs with access to more international
stations and additional seating in the living room and dining
room to accommodate large in-room diplomatic meetings.

name will be Sarah! Mike and I are thrilled and can not wait

I have received many notes from collectors

including myself are taking advantage of the down time to get
caught up on everyday life!
Have a great weekend,
