On June 6, 2000, as Ty® Teenie Beanie Babies™ and Beanie Baby® collectors were anticipating the return of this year's Teenie Beanie Babies promotion at McDonald's, Becky Phillips and Becky Estenssoro were appearing live on 13 television stations across the US to help launch the McDonald's 2000 Teenie Beanie Promotion.
Becky Phillips stated, "It was a great honor to be chosen as a McDonald's Teenie Beanie Babies promotion spokesperson. This year's promotion is very unique and exciting! Many restaurants across the country held special promotions and opened their restaurants at midnight to accommodate the anticipated crowds. When I arrived at 12:30 A.M. at a McDonald's restaurant in my area, there were lines of people. I thought that I would be the only addicted collector up in the wee morning hours, but I was wrong! It is very obvious that there is still a huge group of Teenie Beanie collectors who wanted to make sure they did not miss out on this year's event."
"There was also another reason for collectors to get to their McDonald's restaurants early on June 13," Becky Estenssoro said. "McDonald's Millennium™ Teenie Beanie Baby was only available on Tuesday in very limited quantities. It felt good to think that I was, in a small way, helping the Ronald McDonald House Charities®, and also getting a very special limited Teenie Beanie Baby as well. To add to the excitement of the 2000 Teenie Beanie Babies promotion, McDonald's is introducing two mystery Teenie Beanie Babies at the end of June. These two mystery Teenie Beanie Babies are from the 2000 Beanie Babies® releases and will be in limited quantities. Look for these in the Happy Meals starting June 29."
This year's McDonald's beananza will feature
a total of 29 Ty Teenie Beanie Babies available in two different
series. Series I, the McDonald's Happy Meal Teenie Beanie Babies
are included free with the purchase of a Happy Meal, or sold separately
with the purchase of a regular menu item. Series II, the Superstar
Teenie Beanie Babies collection, represents teenie versions of
some of the most rare hard-to-find Beanie Babies, are specially
packaged and available for $2.49 with the purchase of a regularly
priced menu item. Each Tuesday of the four-week promotion, new
Superstars will be available for purchase:
Dinosaurs: Rex™, Steg™ and Bronty™
Legends: Royal Blue Peanut™, Chilly™ and Humphrey™
International Bears: Osito™, Germania™ and Spangle™
