Cherry Chubs Beautiful Spring Day
"Oh what a bee-u-ti-ful day!" exclaimed Cherry Chub. As she stretches her arms and out with a big sigh as she gets out of bed. "I wonder what I will do today." As Cherry looked outside she realized it wasn't as beautiful as she first thought. There were clouds in the normally clear blue sky. Cherry Chub couldn't help but to smile though. She realized that rain clouds meant rain would soon be here to water the flowers and the plants. Her bird friends love it when it rains. The raindrops fill their birdbaths. They love to splash and play and Cherry giggles as she watches them.

As Cherry stood looking out the window while drinking her carrot juice she had an idea. "Look at all of those dandelions!" she exclaimed. The rain will wash them all away. She always loved blowing the dandelions and watching the little pieces fly around in the breeze. Cherry wanted her friends to come over and play. After asking her Mom if it was ok for her friends to come over, she called Patti Bunny and Sam Squirrel. She said, "do you want to come over to play today, I have an idea of something fun we can do". Cherry said, "Come quick before it starts to rain".

Patti and Sam hurried over as soon as they finished their breakfast. Cherry asked them if they would like to go outside and blow some dandelions for fun before it rains. Sam and Patti thought this sounded like fun so off they went. Running all around the yard, giggling and blowing. Dandelions flying all over the yard. Do you think Cherry realized that there would be many more dandelions just from blowing them all over the yard? It started to rain so they all ran up to the house.

Mama Chub was standing there with a towel for each of them to dry off before they went into the house. They came into the house after they were dry. There was hot lemon tea and carrot cake waiting on the table. Cherry's Mom was really nice. All of her friends enjoyed coming over because they were always treated like one of the family. After they finished their snacks they decided to play hopscotch in the sunroom.

The rain was coming down much harder at this point. Sam, Patti, and Cherry stood looking out the window at the hard rain coming down. "Where did all of the dandelions go", asked Patti. Mama Chub came in and explained the hard rain makes the seedlings come off of their stems. She said, "You will be amazed to see how many dandelions pop up overnight".

It was getting to be lunchtime now. Playtime was about over for a while. These three were about ready for a nap. "You can take a short nap after you eat a little something", said Mama Chub. While the kids were eating their carrot and cucumber sandwiches and drinking their milk, Mama Chub got their nap areas ready. "May we be excused from the table, Mama Chub", asked Patti, Sam, and Cherry. "Of course my dears," said Mama Chub. "I have your beds ready for your nap now", she said.

As the children slept the rain stopped. The sun was shining brightly and the birds were singing. Cherry woke up from her nap. She sat up in her bed and soon noticed it was very bright in her room. She jumped up out of bed and looked out the window! "Wake up Patti, wake up Sam!" she exclaimed. The sun is out and the rain has stopped. There was a beautiful rainbow and she called her Mom in to look at it. "That is a really pretty rainbow," Mama Chub said. The kids were all energized and ready to play again. They knew they would have fun watching the birds play in their bird bathes.

Patti's Mother called to come pick her up. The kids knew their fun day had ended. They had fun and learned a bit about dandelions so they were happy. While they were cleaning up the bedding, Sam's Mother called. She was coming right over to pick him up to take him over to his Grandmothers house. He loved spending time with his Grandma and he was going to stay the night with her, which made him really happy. As the Moms arrived the kids all said thank you to Mama Chub and Cherry and gave them both a big hug. "Be sure to look outside when you first get up in the morning", said Mama Chub. "The flowers will be blooming and the dandelions will be plentiful again". Cherry hugged onto her Mom as Patti and Sam left. "Thank you Mom," said Cherry. "I'm lucky to have a great Mom like you".

Cherry curled up in the chair with her favorite picture book, a book of Sally Winey bears. She loves these beautiful bears and someday hopes she can own one too.
