Hi Ms. Janie,
I've written to you a few times from my home base in Germany.
I'm currently deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation
Southern Watch, enforcing the no fly, no drive zone in southern
Iraq.
The fighter pilots here are more than happy to fly personal belongings
in their planes for people. The most popular item to be flown
is an American flag. It seems the second most popular item to
be flown are Beanies, with the patriotic ones (Spangle, Patriot)
being the number one choice. The administrative personnel from
the fighter squadron then give you a nice certificate with the
date, tail number, pilot's information, etc. about the flight
that your item was on.
I thought I'd send you a couple pictures of Spangle being flown
over Saudi Arabia. These pictures were taken from the rear of
the refueling plane as the fighter pilots were approaching to
gas up before their trip into Iraq.
Just thought you might be interested in knowing that Beanies are
flying proudly along with our fighter pilots trying to enforce
peace.
Keep up the great work!
Sincerely,
John Lewis
