HELP UNITY

Hi Janie,
I've been involved in two traveling Beanie projects. Both were with friends from the former MBBBW message board. The first one was with Becky who sent a traveling Peace Beanie. The second one was with Dave who sent a traveling Beginning Beanie (which is still in progress after several months).

The idea behind these traveling Beanies is simply to have fun. When you receive it, you notify the person who owns the Beanie so that they can keep track of where it's at. Most people will attach some kind of memento to show where it's been, and there's a journal that travels with the Beanie so that people can write what happened while it was in their possession. Then they send it on to the next person. In the end, it's sent back to the owner.

What I'd like to do is sponsor a traveling Beanie project in your honor as a "thank you" for all you've done for us collectors. Not only do you keep us updated on a daily basis, you tell it like it is with your down to earth style that we've all come to appreciate. We like to hear how things really are instead of constantly being fed the sugar-coated stuff. It's your honesty and candor that has built a loyal following.

I decided that the perfect Beanie for this project would be "Unity" because you've done so much over the past few years to "unite" collectors around the world.

I'm thinking there will probably be an overwhelming response with people wanting to have Unity visit them so that they can be part of this project in your honor and write their words of thanks in the journal. I think people writing their own words in the journal will add a much more personal touch. Due to the overwhelming response expectation, I must ask for your help. My ISP would probably scream at me for the amount of emails if I were to take them all since my email storage space isn't too great. Since you have server space, could you please accept the emails from the people who would like to participate? That way they're kept in a central place with easy access, and my ISP won't close down my account because I overloaded them!

I've included the "Rules of Engagement" for those who would like to participate. It's just to give people an idea of how this works.

I'd like to mail Unity to the first person on the list on January 2nd.

I hope you accept this project in your honor!

John

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

1. Have fun!

2. Participation if strictly voluntary.

3. Send an email to Ms. Janie stating that you’d like to participate. Make sure the subject of you email is “Traveling Unity”. Include your postal mailing address. All information received will be kept confidential, and your name and address will only be given to the person who currently has Unity so that they can send it to you.

4. For those participating in the “Traveling Unity” project, there are only two requirements: (1) When you receive Unity in the mail, you must email Ms. Janie letting her know of its arrival so that she can keep everyone updated in her newsletter of it whereabouts. Digital pictures are also great. (2) You must make an entry in the journal to include when you received Unity, your location (preferably your hometown, state, providence & country), anything special that happens while Unity is in your care, and any personal notes to Ms. Janie since this is a project in her honor.

5. Have fun!

6. Including a small memento of where Unity has been is encouraged, but not necessary. If you decide to include a memento, please ensure it is small and very lightweight. Pins and postcards are recommended in order to keep the weight of the package down so that postage fees are kept at a minimum. Other Beanies or heavy items are highly discouraged.

7. Postage fees are not reimbursable. If you participate, you agree to mail the package on to the next person.

8. Don’t keep Unity for an extended period of time. One week at the most is recommended in order to keep Unity traveling in a timely manner.

9. Unity will travel around the United States first, then to Canada (based on participants), and finally to Europe (again based on participants). Once his travels have come to an end, he’ll be sent “home” to Ms. Janie.

10. Have fun!

John's project sounds exciting! Please send your e-mails to ms.janie@home.com and follow John's instructions. I believe a well traveled Beanie is a sign of LOVE! A little wear and tear goes a long way!
Thanks again John for this special honor. When Unity arrives I will cherish it always. It will become a permanent feature on the website and I certainly will be looking for ways to keep this little fellow involved.
